Gwadar Airport ready, inauguration expected on March 23

The Gwadar Airport is expected to be inaugurated on March 23 by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has given the green light for aircraft operations at Gwadar Airport. The CAA has finished inspecting the Gwadar Airport for safety. The project is intended to have all top-notch amenities and the capability to land big aircraft like Boeing and Airbus.

The New Gwadar Airport was built thanks to cooperation between Pakistan, Oman and China. The then-PTI administration officially conducted the ground breaking on the project in 2019.

The Sultanate of Oman committed $17.5 million to the airport project, while China intended to invest $662 million in land development, sea port upgrades and airport building in and around Gwadar. The details available on China-Pakistan economic Corridor (CPEC) authority’s official page has showed. The project was a part of CPEC.

Pakistan proposed to construct the new airport on a 4000-acre plot of land about 25 kilometers from the present Gwadar International Airport.
