Rs.25 Billion set aside for Naya Pakistan Housing Project

Prime Minister Imran Khan stated that a decision was finalized to make the construction sector an industry. Rs 25 Billion has been set aside to start the first phase of the Naya Pakistan Housing Project.

Prime Minister declared since the construction sector is now considered an industry, the people working in it will enjoy facilities just like other industries do. The meeting that was held was attended by Adviser on Finance Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, Chairman Naya Pakistan Housing Authority General (retd) Anwar Ali Haider, representative of the Association of Builders and Developers Muhammad Hasan Bakhshi and senior officers.

The Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) was called upon to play a proactive role in combating the trends of cartel emergence in the construction sector and the artificial price increases of raw material used in construction.

The Prime Minister insisted that one of his top priorities was to bring the construction sector back up to its peak. He also had high hopes that if the construction sector starts to progress then it would speed up other economic activities as well as provide job opportunities for other people as well. He also stated that he was aware of the difficult position that we as a country are facing and will provide all support to its citizens to overcome this difficult patch.
