Road asphalting begins in Bajaur
BAJAUR: The much-awaited asphalt work on the six-kilometre Inayat Kallay-Laghari Road commenced here on Sunday after a delay of about two years.
The work on the project, being executed through the development funds of PTI MPA Dr Hamidur Rehman, was delayed for about two years owing to lack of funds. The work was launched during a ceremony in Barkholozo area of Lowi Mamund tehsil.
Scores of residents from different areas of Lowi Mamund, mostly youth, PTI workers and focal person for the development projects of MPA Dr Hamidur Rehman attended the ceremony for the long-awaited blacktopping of the road, which was inaugurated in November 2024.
Speaking on the occasion, PTI workers and the MPA’s focal person for development projects said that work on about six-km Inayat Kallay-Laghari Road, inaugurated in November 2024, had been delayed for about two years due to multiple issues, including lack of funds.
They also expressed regret over the unnecessary delay in the completion of the project connecting the entire Lowi Mamund tehsil, the most populated region of Bajaur, with the rest of the district.
“We know that the renovation of this major road, linking the entire Lowi Mamund tehsil with the rest of the district, has caused inconvenience to residents due to its prolonged delay, for which we are extremely regretful,” they added.
They, however, said that the launch of the asphalt work would pave the way for the immediate completion of the project, with most sections expected to be completed within a week.
