Pakistan to build 17 IB offices along CPEC route

To further boost the security of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Pakistan will seek Chinese grant for the construction of 17 regional offices for Intelligence Bureau (IB) along the corridor route, it is learnt reliably here yesterday.

The total estimated cost of the project is Rs 2126.864 million and the government will seek Chinese assistance in this regard, the official sources told The Nation. The project aims at construction of offices and residential accommodation for IB staff posted along the CPEC route.

A total of 17 sub-projects for the IB will be executed under the main PC-I. Besides the construction of 14 regional offices/residential buildings along the route of CPEC at various places in Gilgit Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Balochistan, up-gradation of anti-terrorist training school at simly, fabrication providing and placing of furniture/ furnishing items for IB Academy Training block/ girls hostel& new hostel 3rd floor at H-11/1, and construction of residential flats /officer hostel for IB Academy at H-11/1, Islamabad is also part of the project.

A concept clearance “Construction of Intelligence Bureau Offices with Chinese Assistance,” has already been cleared by the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) and now negotiations with Chinese side will take place, the source said. The project is sponsored by the Cabinet Division and is executed by Intelligence Bureau through Pakistan Public Works Department.
