Minister Reviews Major Road Projects, Urges Timely Completion

LAHORE, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 3rd Mar, 2026) Punjab Minister for Communication and Works (C&W) Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharth chaired a meeting to review the progress of major road construction projects in Punjab, here on Tuesday.

The minister stressed strict adherence to timelines and prompt resolution of any obstacles. The meeting was attended online by Additional Secretary, Special Secretaries, Chief Engineer, XENs, and SDOs.

The minister was briefed on ongoing work along Wahga Road, Lahore, Lillah–Jhelum Road (128 km), and Gujrat–Salem to Sargodha Road (94.30 km). Work on the BRB Canal side of Wahga Road has been completed, including decorative fountains.

The minister directed immediate coordination with the Punjab Housing Department to finish service roads and drainage systems.

For the Lillah–Jhelum Road project, five sections are under construction, with Section Five completed.

The minister expressed dissatisfaction over the slow removal of poles in Section Four and requested an immediate report from the Commissioner Rawalpindi. He instructed the Chief Engineer to personally monitor all sections, noting that 80 percent of sub-base work on Section Three has been completed, and emphasized that the project must be finished within the stipulated timeframe.

On the Gujrat–Salem to Sargodha Road, base course work is underway. The minister directed authorities to maintain close coordination with FWO and NESPAK to ensure timely completion and reiterated that Chief Minister Punjab is committed to delivering all road projects on schedule.

The minister stressed that once a project is initiated, it must be completed without delay and any potential complications should be addressed immediately to avoid setbacks.
