Departments asked to complete Dhamthore Bypass project

Deputy commissioner, Abbottabad, Tariq Salam Marwat asked the relevant departments here on Tuesday to complete work on the Dhamthore Bypass to boost tourism in Galiyat and help resolve traffic problems in Abbottabad city.

A briefing was given to him by FWO officials on construction of the bypass and road project from Havelian, connecting Galiyats with rest of the country.

The relevant departments, including FWO, Nespak and communication and works, were asked to complete work on the road before May when summer tourism season started.

The meeting was attended by additional deputy commissioner Shahab Mohammad Khan, District Reconciliation Committee chairman Ayaz Saleem Rana, assistant commissioner Hassan Ahsan, C&W executive engineer, Havelian, additional assistant commissioner, revenue, Asif Iqbal, tehsildar land acquisition and other officers.

They also stressed establishment of police station on Dhamthore Bypass road to provide security to the tourists and local people.

On this occasion, the deputy commissioner asked the Abbottabad and Havelian TMAs to take action against encroachments within the right of way around the bypass.

In another meeting, the deputy commissioner directed the officers of TMA, irrigation, cantonment board and WASA to complete the cleaning of drains and removal of encroachments in their area as soon as possible.

Special directions were given for cleaning of drains at Ayub Medical Complex, Sethi Masjid, small industries, Jhangi, Jab Pul, Bilal Town and other areas.

CEO Abbottabad Cantt Board, assistant commissioner Hassan Ahsan, TMOs of Abbottabad and Havelian and officials of other relevant departments attended the meeting.

DIG Hazara region Mirwais Niaz chaired an online conference of district police officers of Hazara division on Tuesday to review crime and drug prevention situation besides security of tourists.

Speaking on the occasion, the DIG directed the DPOs of Hazara region to ensure arrest of the proclaimed offenders and security of tourists besides devising Eid security plan.

He directed the officers to strictly deal with the menace of ice drug abuse. He said FIRs should be lodged on priority in vehicle theft and other such cases.
