Billions of rupees allocated for uplift of Kalash valleys Wazirzada
Chief Minister Mehmood Khan has sanctioned projects worth billions of rupees for Kalash valleys of Chitral which will be completed soon, said Wazirzada Kalash, who is the special assistant to the CM on minority affairs.
Inaugurating different development and renovation schemes in Rumboor, he said work on a graveyard for the Kalash tribe has been completed for which six kanals of land was purchased.
“We have also bought more than three kanals to be used as a venue for celebrating the Kalash festivals. Similarly, the Kalash valley road has been handed over to the National Highway Authority (NHA) which will start its constriction soon.
“We need Rs2.9 billion to purchase land along the road and have approached the federal government for allocation of the amount after preparing the PC-1 of the road afresh which is worth Rs7.7 billion.”
Moreover, Kalash Valleys Development Authority has been set up for the first time for which the deputy commissioner has been given the additional charge of director general. The DC will have his own fund for the development of Kalash valleys.
He said 200 feet protection wall would be constructed in Bran Guru village at a cost of Rs3.5 million in order to protect the village from floods. A 200-protection wall will also be constructed in Chak Goron village.
An amount of Rs20 million has also been sanctioned for Chak Guru village, Rs2.4 million for the canal of Kalash Gram village which was destroyed in the recent floods and Rs3 million for irrigation water supply from Chow Cho Gol in Sheikhanda.
The condition of roads will also be improved and Rs10.6 million have been approved for the road from Dubash to Rimbor, Rs10.8 million for Bamburit and Rs10 million for Barri road.
