Wahab vows to launch 120 uplift schemes in city

Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab on Tuesday vowed to launch 120 new development schemes in Karachi.

“The KMC [Karachi Metropolitan Corporation] has already issued and completed the process of tenders worth billion of rupees in this regard,” he said while addressing a ceremony after groundbreaking of the construction of a five-kilometre dual carriageway road in UC-2 Lal Bhakkar of Mauripur.

“We will work where we have won and we will also work where we had lost. The PPP isn’t about discrimination and divide. It’s bringing people closer and resist against those who divide people in the name of ethnicity and other ideologies only for their vested interests.”

“The procurement process for many of these schemes is going on and you will see the practical work starting very soon on many of them. As a worker of the Pakistan Peoples Party under the vision of my chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, I believe in the politics of service instead of politics of criticism.”

As mayor of Karachi, he vowed to restore the glory of the city through service without complaining about ‘powers and resources’.

The Karachi mayor referred to several development projects under the PPP rule that included Mauripur Road, a road from Fish Chowk to Kennup and a beach front for the people of Manora.

“Despite all these projects, we didn’t create any hue and cry over media and didn’t make any fanfare,” said the mayor.

“And very soon we will build an international standard youth centre for the people of the central district. In the first phase, we have improved the condition of roads around the Asghar Ali Shah Stadium.”
