The land acquisition process for the Rawalpindi Ring Road has begun. On Saturday, the district administration began determining land acquisition rates for the Rawalpindi Ring Road Project from Banth to Thalian.
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ali chairs the price assessment committee. It includes the additional commissioner revenue, assistant commissioners Saddar and Gujar Khan, the district attorney, RDA’s director land and estate management, administrative office building, district accounts officer, deputy director local fund audit, excise and taxation officer, sub-registrar rural, assistant director land record, and a representative of the RDA.
The district collector has published a valuation table based on the current market price of the land to be purchased.
Officials say a price assessment committee led by DC will visit the project site next week.
He added that the administration has opted to film the discussions to make the process more transparent.
“Many changes have been made in the past about pricing evaluations for the Rawalpindi Ring Road project, and the issue is still pending before the Anti-Corruption Establishment.”
He stated former commissioner Mohammad Mehmood and RDA land collector Waseem Tabish were in jail in connection with the matter.
According to the source, the Punjab Planning and Development Board approved land acquisition for the Rawalpindi Ring Road, for which the government has set up Rs6.7 billion.
He stated that the route would be 38.3 kilometers long, beginning in Bath near Rawat and ending in Thalian along the highway.
“After applying Section 4 in the area to prevent people from selling and buying land, they will make a new price assessment.”
There will be no special economic zones along the road, according to the plan, he said. In the following week, the committee will pay a visit to the site.
He added the money paid to families whose land had been acquired for the former ring road layout was still being processed.
On the other hand, RDA has begun work on preparing PC-I for the ring road’s construction and will submit it to the Punjab government soon. The project will be launched under the annual development program, according to Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar.
According to the official, the provincial government has also instructed Commissioner Syed Gulzar Hussain Shah to finish the assignment within a month, so Prime Minister Imran Khan can lay the foundation for the ring road, Leh Expressway, and Flood Channel on December 25.
