Sindh Govt Hands Over Projects Worth Rs. 8.5 Billion to FWO
The Sindh government has awarded four major infrastructure projects worth Rs. 8.5 billion in Karachi to the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) as part of its plan to improve traffic flow and upgrade key road networks across the city.
According to Geo News, Sindh will formally begin work on three of these projects in August, with the initiatives focused on constructing flyovers, improving major intersections, and rehabilitating important roads.
One of the major projects includes the construction of a flyover interchange near the Northern Bypass on the M-9 Motorway, aimed at improving connectivity between different parts of Karachi and reducing traffic congestion.
Since the proposed flyover will be built over the motorway, the Sindh Local Government Department has started the process of obtaining a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the National Highway Authority (NHA). The project has an estimated cost of Rs. 2.3 billion.
Another major project involves constructing a flyover at the intersection connecting Abul Hasan Isphahani Road with the area opposite Al-Asif Square on the motorway. The project’s cost is around Rs. 2.1 billion.
The flyover is expected to improve traffic movement from all directions and ease congestion at one of Karachi’s busy intersections.
The provincial government has also approved road improvement work on Hawksbay Road. The estimated cost of this project is Rs. 4.162 billion. Work on this project is expected to start in August.
