Rawalpindi to Get 2 New Dams to Address Water Shortage
The Punjab Small Dams Organization has invited tenders for the construction of two new dams, the Mahota Dam and Mujahid Dam, in the Rawalpindi district.
According to sources, the cost of the Mahota Dam is estimated to be over Rs. 660.2 million, while the cost of the Mujahid Dam is over Rs. 930.7 million.
The projects were approved by former federal minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan and former deputy speaker of the Punjab Assembly, Wasiq Qayyum Abbasi.
The details suggest that the tenders from dam building companies will be accepted until May 30 and awarded to the lowest bidder.
The dams will provide clean drinking water to 350,000 people and irrigate 13,000 acres of land. Amusement parks, fish varieties, and boating facilities will also be available alongside the dams.
