Rawalpindi Ring Road Almost Complete as Final Work Continues
The main carriageway of the Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) project is 99% complete, Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Salman Ghani said on Tuesday. Ghani made the remarks during a detailed inspection of the entire Ring Road project, where he reviewed the progress and remaining construction work.
He directed the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) to complete the outstanding drains, retaining walls and interchange ramps on a priority basis while maintaining the required technical and construction standards.
The commissioner also instructed authorities to keep the temporary connection with the M-2 Motorway at Thalian Interchange and the ramps leading towards Lahore fully operational until the interchange is completed.
He ordered the effective implementation of the temporary traffic management plan to ensure safe and uninterrupted traffic flow and minimize inconvenience to commuters. Ghani also reviewed the future plan for implementing a Single Network Tolling System on the Ring Road through the FWO.
He said the project would help ease traffic pressure within Rawalpindi, improve inter-district and inter-provincial connectivity, and support economic and commercial activity in the region. He added that the Punjab government has made timely completion of development projects a priority and warned that negligence or unnecessary delays would not be tolerated.
