NHA is likely to complete only 21 projects during FY2026-27

ISLAMABAD: Out of 71 ongoing projects, National Highway Authority (NHA) likely to complete 21 projects during the financial year 2026-27 and because of constraint of funds its throw-forward amount would cross PKR 3 trillion mark.

According to documents of NHA, in the Public Sector Development Programme of 2026-27 allocation of PKR 224 billion made for the NHA in which PKR 165 billion would be provided by federal government and the PKR 59.25 would be in shape of foreign aid. In total allocation the federal government would provide PKR 165.26 billion, whereas PKR 59.25 billion would be provided in shape of foreign aid.

In the PSDP the biggest allocation made for Balochistan as its 17 ongoing projects will get a funding of 118.19 billion. The throw-forward amount would be PKR 569.64 billion. For nine ongoing projects of Sindh funds of PKR 49.30 billion has been allocated. In this amount federal government would provide PKR 8.05 billion whereas PKR 41.25 billion would be in shape of foreign aid. The throw-forward amount of Sindh would be PKR 472.47 billion.

For 21 ongoing projects of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa allocation of PKR 27.50 billion has been made. In this amount PKR 19 billion would be provided by federal government and the remaining PKR 8.05 would be foreign assistance. The throw-forward amount of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would be PKR 933.67 billion.

The allocation for 16 projects of Punjab in the PSDP is amounted to PKR 21.52 billion. In this total allocation PKR 17.17 billion is in shape of local component and PKR 4.50 billion as foreign aid. For Gilgit-Baltistan and other three projects allocation of PKR 8 billion has been made in which the federal government would provide PKR 3 billion and the remaining PKR 5 billion would be in shape of foreign aid. The total cost of 66 PC-1 projects is PKR 3.86 trillion.
