Today, the rainwater that flowed for the first time from the underpasses of Balochistan’s ‘Nilg’ dam carried away with it the smell of fear, terror and despair that had engulfed this region of the Makran plain for the past several years.
Four years ago, when the engineers of our consulting company Rehman Habib Construction wanted to go to this area for survey, they were not allowed to enter this area by the brothers on the mountains – after the plea of the local elders, they were ordered to complete their work in just two hours and leave.
This news could not reach our mainstream media because their priority is only to set up a political circus – the greatest blessing of the area around Nilg is timely access to drinking water – this will provide drinking water for their animals for the next generation and if the owner is very kind, they will get water to grow their required grains and that too not every year – and the brothers from above come and sit on the mountains –
In this area covered with dry mountains and rocks, spring happens in those days of July when the sky cannot control its tears after seeing the helplessness of this area for the whole year and suddenly the eyes of nature start to shed tears – the rivers and canals are washed away by the grace of the owner and these are one or two days in the whole year when the lands of this area are blessed with water.
In these circumstances, when the head engineers of the Balochistan Irrigation Department presented the plan to build a dam in this area, it was considered an impossible project in view of the difficulties of accessing the site and the security situation in the area.
When Design Engineers of our consulting firm expressed their intention to go to this remote area of Makran from Lahore to carry out survey and design work, it was declared as madness – however, Imran Durrani and his deputy Ibrahim Mengal and Safiullah Sahib drove the vehicles of our company’s engineers to this area and said that we will take the first bullet on our chest – these are the silent heroes who do not think of putting superficial statuses like ‘Feeling Proud’ – it is done with silence and dedication. After the completion of the survey and design work, it was said that no contractor will come to work in such a difficult area – there are no access roads to the site, and there is no possibility of finding cement from far away – they say that when the intention is to work, Allah gives the reason – a good contractor was also found and he completed the dam on time – during the last three years, our engineers visited the site several times to solve the problems encountered during construction – brothers and sisters Water was also needed as a human need, so he also closed one of his eyes.
When the local people’s centuries-old water rights on the Nilg river and the indigenous system were made part of the design of the dam and canal system, every tribe actively contributed to the success of the project – and today when the sky cried out and expressed its sorrow, all the rivers and canals took one drop and one drop of this precious water and brought it to the lake of the ‘Nilg’ dam – the proximity of water to the mountains that have stood dry for centuries is more than the proximity of the seventy angels in heaven. Wished – Due to the abundance of water, the lower gates of the dam had to be opened, the noise of the water coming out of them was more pleasant and life-giving for a dam engineer than the sound of a newborn coming from the labor room.
The Nilg dam has been built and filled with water – the water stored in this lake also holds unlimited possibilities for a peaceful future – chickens will now land on this lake – boating will take place – agricultural lands will grow grain from its waters – the thirst of the owner’s creatures will be quenched – I don’t know how many children will be saved from becoming brothers – and all this success has been achieved without firing a cartridge –

But the site camp is quiet – the camp is being dismantled – the site engineers are preparing their bags and putting them outside – four years ago when they first arrived here, how desolate and silent this area was – it seemed that the angels had forgotten it after building this area – how difficult the roads were cut through the mountains to bring construction materials – how drinking water was brought from miles away – sometimes at night If we had done a little job fair by firing rockets with them, we would have felt life-
The dam has been built and its lake is full – filling of the lake is a medal of merit for a dam engineer, it is also a declaration of failure – as soon as the lake of any dam is filled, the first thing the dam says to the engineer is what are you doing here – your work is done – now let the people have a job on this lake – go and find a place to build a new dam in another wasteland – then they will use this collected, inefficient and selfish water. But he gives a forlorn look and picks up his bag and walks away – he can’t even set the status of “Feeling Set as Found” because there is neither electricity nor mobile signal in this area-

The owner has done so much good, the spillways of the dams have been opened in the first year of completion, although five years ago today, while approving the PC-1 of this project, Babu sitting in front of the cold machines of the Planning Commission of Islamabad was frowning that first of all, these dams will not be built on the land in Balochistan and even if they are built, they will not be filled with water for many years – the country and the nation’s money is being wasted – questions were also raised about the capabilities of the irrigation department, but today these dams The spillway flowing water has washed away all these doubts with it – the spillway flow means that the rainwater is more than the storage capacity of the dam and this has been possible in the first year – Alhamdulillah –
I know this post will reach a few people – this news will not be top trending on Twitter – it will not make it to any prime time talk show of the main media – no national level leader will hold a press conference on it – no Tik Tok video will be made on the water coming out of the spill –
