KPK Govt. Launches TREK to Promote Tourism
On Tuesday, the KPK government in association with the World Bank and Nestle Pakistan is launching a TREK (Travel Responsibility for Experiencing Ecotourism in KP), a multi-pronged program to endorse responsible tourism in the province.
The reports said that an official launch ceremony in this regard was recently held in Islamabad with Prime Minister Imran Khan as the chief guest.
Under the TREK program, all investors will start awareness drives for tourists and train local communities and businesses on waste minimization and collection in the province.
Addressing the ceremony, PM Imran said that the elevation of Eco-tourism will not only help the country accomplish enhanced economic development but it will also make more employment opportunities for the local population.
Moreover, he noted that guaranteeing environmental protection of tourist destinations in the province is the need of the hour as the binding provincial government’s tourism-friendly initiatives have resulted in an extraordinary increase in tourism.
On the other hand, Mahmood Khan Chief Minister KPK stated that the provincial government has prioritized the construction of roads in the province to ease tourists by improving accessibility.
