Imran Khan to inaugurate upgradation of Quetta-Chaman highway
Federal Minister for Communication Murad Saeed Tuesday shared the prime minister will inaugurate works on upgradation of the Quetta-Chaman highway next month, turning the western China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) route into a reality.
The federal minister made the announcement on the floor of the National Assembly and said that the Quetta-Chaman highway which was previously termed as a killer road will now be upgraded into a secure highway.
“We have already issued tender for upgradation works and Prime Minister Imran Khan will inaugurate the project next month,” he said.
Murad Saeed said that the western CPEC route was a dream in the previous regimes, however, soon after Imran Khan took to power, South KP and Balochistan areas also witnessed progress on development projects.
He said that PML-N only has roads network to present as its achievement, however, the incumbent government has developed 3000-kilometre roads in Balochistan province only.
It is pertinent to mention here that Prime Minister Imran Khan recently congratulated the ministry of communication and the National Highway Authority (NHA) for saving public money on the construction and rehabilitation of highways and motorways as compared to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) tenure.
Taking to Twitter, the prime minister congratulated the ministry of communication and NHA for saving public money through transparency and digitization and said that this was done despite global price hikes and inflation.
He shared that on the construction of the four-lane highways, the PTI government reduced the cost by 138 percent as compared to the PML-N tenure.
The statistics shared by the premier showed that PML-N built four-lane highways during 2013-18 at the cost of Rs 411 million as compared to PTI that built the highways at the cost of Rs172 million, reducing the cost by 138 percent.
