Export Industry to Start Operation in Phases

Faisalabad: Abdur Razzaq Dawood was talking to the business leaders through a video link conference to personally inquire about their problems. He said that due to the extension in current lockdown because of coronavirus pandemic, a strategy was being made to allow export related industry to start its operation.

He asked the various chambers to provide him a priority-wise list of 10 industrial units, which could be opened subject to the fulfillment of required safety measures. He said that the government would also review to allow the SMEs and cottage industry to resume its operation after following the set SOPs.

He said that instructions to the provincial chief secretaries and commissioners were being issued in this regard so that the industrial activities could be restored as soon as the threat of coronavirus ended. The adviser said that another meeting with the business community would be held on Monday to review the steps taken in this conference. Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) president Rana Sikandar-e-Azam suggested that the industrial sector should be allowed to resume its operation. Representing the business community, he said that the importers were unable to immediately pay dues of their LCs and their goods had been arrived in local ports. He suggested that their interest may also be deferred in view of the current situation in the wake of COVID-19.

FDA Estate Officer Imtiaz Goraya sealed the offices of Tech Town extension phases IV and V, which were developed without any approval. According to official sources, the department served notices to the owner of the scheme time and again for depositing FDA dues, but he failed to do so. The developer had been asked to pay dues and get formal approval of the extension blocks, otherwise, a criminal case would be registered against him.

Hotel manager booked: Assistant Commissioner (City) Syed Ayub Bukhari got a case registered against a hotel manager on violation of Section 144 CrPC here. The AC checked Al-Aziz Hotel on Thursday night and noticed that four persons were having dinner there. To it, a case was registered against the hotel manager. Meanwhile, Assistant Commissioner Syed Ayub Bukhari imposed a fine of Rs 130,000 on two super stores for displaying substandard pulses in the DC counters. The AC during his visit to Imtiaz Mart and SB Mart found substandard pulses at the DC counters. The AC imposed fine of Rs 80,000 on Imtiaz Mart and Rs 50,000 on SB Mart.
