Expected Opening Date Revealed for Rawalpindi Ring Road Project
The main route of the Rawalpindi Ring Road is likely to be opened for traffic by mid-June, with officials saying around 85 per cent of work on the corridor has already been completed.
According to project details, construction on the 38.6-kilometer route has reached an advanced stage and includes progress on key interchanges at Banth, Chak Beli Khan Road, Adiala, and Chakri.
Officials said only around 15 per cent work now remains on the main route and its four interchanges, with work continuing under strict monitoring.
Sources in the Rawalpindi Development Authority said delays in the project occurred due to various ground realities, but the remaining construction is now moving quickly. If the current pace is maintained, the main Ring Road corridor is expected to be ready for traffic within weeks.
The opening of the route will mark a major milestone for one of the region’s most important road infrastructure projects, which is aimed at improving traffic flow and easing pressure on congested urban arteries in and around Rawalpindi.
However, the initial opening will not include the Thallian interchange or the motorway link road connected to it. Those components are part of the project’s second phase and will be completed later.
The PC-1 worth Rs. 4.8 billion for the Thallian interchange has already been approved by the relevant authority.
