CDA Halts Construction of Rs180m Margalla Town Underpass Project

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) abruptly halts the Rs180 million underpass construction project on Murree Road, causing public outrage.

The authority halted the project at a stage where 70% of the work has been completed and a portion of the contractor’s fee has already been paid.

The move was made by the newly appointed CDA Chairman, who declared the project as futile and ordered it to be halted immediately.

The decision has outraged hundreds of residents from various areas, who have protested against the decision, warning that it will have serious consequences for the public and the administration.

Additionally, the underpass was expected to facilitate the daily flow of over 10,000 vehicles through the busy intersection, and its sudden stop will cause major traffic problems on Islamabad-Murree Road.

Despite the public outcry, the CDA Chairman has not yet taken any action against the officials who failed to detect defects in the project’s plan, which led to its suspension.

Furthermore, the decision has raised concerns over the CDA’s ability to complete its projects and the implications for public safety and welfare.
