CDA Completes Over 50% Work on Kashmir Chowk Underpass

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has completed 51% of construction work on the Rs. 1.4 billion Kashmir Chowk Underpass in Islamabad in just over two weeks, with the project expected to be completed by the end of the first week of November.

The project was inaugurated by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on October 6, with a completion deadline of 30 days. It aims to reduce traffic congestion and improve connectivity between Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

According to a CDA official, construction is progressing at an exceptional pace to meet the deadline.

CDA Chairman Sohail Ashraf visited the project site to inspect ongoing civil and structural work and review construction progress.

During the visit, he directed the project management and engineering teams to maintain the pace of work while ensuring construction quality and safety standards.

He also emphasized better coordination, efficient use of resources, and continuous monitoring to ensure timely completion.

Meanwhile, the CDA has expanded its solid waste management services to 65 union councils, primarily in Islamabad’s Zones IV and V.

The expansion covers Bhara Kahu and other rural and suburban areas that previously lacked adequate sanitation facilities.

The initiative aims to address longstanding waste management issues and provide residents of underserved areas with a cleaner and healthier environment.
