CDA Chairman inspects progress at Islamabad Model Jail construction site
ISLAMABAD: Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), Muhammad Ali Randhawa, visited the construction site of the Islamabad Model Jail on Monday to review the project’s progress.
He was accompanied by Inspector General of Islamabad Police, Syed Nasir Ali Rizvi, along with other senior officials. The delegation received comprehensive briefings on the development status of the facility, which is being constructed in phases.
According to officials, 98 percent of the RCC compound and boundary walls have been completed in the first phase. Additionally, 72 percent of the barracks have been constructed. The administrative block is 96 percent finished, while 75 percent of the road infrastructure and sewage work has been finalized.
The jail’s hospital and central kitchen are reported to be 70 percent complete. All 24 planned watchtowers have been built, and an additional 10 towers are expected to be completed within the next month. The central watchtower stands at 72 percent completion.
Chairman Randhawa emphasized the need to ensure an uninterrupted supply of water and electricity to the facility. He also directed officials to finalize the design and cost estimates for the sewage treatment plant promptly. He instructed that furniture for the administrative block, hospital, and warden barracks be arranged without delay.
Highlighting the importance of maintaining construction standards, Randhawa urged authorities to expedite the remaining work without compromising on quality or timelines.
