Lahore: CBD completes construction of first-ever rainwater harvesting lake

The Central Business District (CBD) Punjab has introduced a unique and environmentally friendly system to conserve rainwater, marking a significant step toward sustainable urban development.

According to officials, the construction of a rainwater harvesting lake in Lahore has been successfully completed, offering the capacity to store up to five million gallons of rainwater.

The lake has been constructed in the Quaid District of CBD Lahore, with a depth of 20 feet, allowing it to retain enough water from two major monsoon spells, as shared by Imran Amin, CEO of CBD Punjab. This initiative is designed not only to manage urban flooding but also to utilize the stored rainwater in developmental and environmental projects across the district.

Speaking about the project, the CEO emphasized that the goal is to build a completely eco-friendly model of urban development, integrating sustainable solutions into the city’s infrastructure. The rainwater harvesting lake stands as a symbol of innovation and climate-conscious planning in the heart of Lahore.
