Saudi Arabia Pledges $14 Million for Construction of Houses, Schools and Other Projects in Pakistan
The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has signed four cooperation agreements with the National Disaster Management Authority, National Commission for Human Development, Pakistan Red Crescent Society, and Kashmir Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority.
These initiatives aim to support communities affected by natural disasters in Pakistan, directly benefiting around 360,000 individuals and indirectly helping 690,000 more, with a total project value of $14,223,762.
As part of the agreements, 1,000 permanent housing units will be constructed for families impacted by floods in 2022, providing safe homes for approximately 7,000 people in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab provinces. Each house will include two bedrooms, a kitchen, and a bathroom, ensuring a comfortable living environment.
In addition, 300 community schools powered by solar energy and equipped with clean drinking water will be built across Pakistan, benefiting 15,000 children directly and over 100,000 people indirectly.
Four secondary schools will also be established in Kashmir, offering a safe learning environment for 3,400 students and contributing to the region’s long-term development.
A national logistics warehouse for the National Disaster Management Authority in Islamabad will be constructed to improve the storage and distribution of relief supplies during emergencies.
Furthermore, 22 service facilities, including schools, health centers, and water projects previously established by Saudi Arabia in disaster-affected areas of Pakistan, will be rehabilitated to enhance access to education, healthcare, and clean water.
The agreements were signed in Islamabad by KSrelief’s Assistant Supervisor General, Eng. Ahmed Al-Baiz, in the presence of Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Muhammad Dar, Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Nawaf Al-Maliki, and a representative from the National Disaster Management Authority.
These efforts reflect the Saudi government’s commitment to strengthening communities, supporting educational and healthcare projects, and rehabilitating vital services in Pakistan.
