Salim Saifullah Welcomes PM’s Announcement To Construct Dams In The Country
PESHAWAR- Chief Marwat National Alliance and former Federal Minister Salim Saifullah Khan has welcomed Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s announcement to construct dams in the country and termed the establishment of a committee for the construction of dams as a welcome move.
While talking to media on Thursday, Salim Saifullah Khan strongly demanded from Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif to provide funds on an emergency basis for the construction of Phase II of the Kurram Tangi Dam, saying that the Kurram Tangi Dam is a project of national importance which was approved in 2001.
The construction of Phase I of the dam has been completed, however, compared to the construction of other dams, Phase II of the Kurram Tangi Dam will be completed in less time and at a lower cost.
The project, he continued, on completion will also generate 84 MW of electricity and of great help in preventing floods in these districts.
Salim Saifullah Khan appealed to the prime minister to take personal interest in construction of Kurram Tangi Dam, which is an ongoing project, but will face delay due to non-allocation of funds in the current fiscal year’s budget.
