Rs710b okayed for uplift projects
To address Rawalpindis water scarcity issues, the provincial government has approved approximately Rs71 billion for key water supply projects across the district.
Additionally, Rs3.5 billion has been allocated for the installation of gas pipelines.District Development Coordination Committee Chairman and Member of the National Assembly, Engineer Qamarul Islam Raja, confirmed the approval of grants.
He said the expansion and repair of Khawaja Corporation to Gorakhpur Adiala Road are currently underway, with a budget of Rs2.054 billion. Furthermore, Rs5 billion is being invested to address the issue of low voltage electricity in the district, aiming to completely resolve this problem, he said.
In an exclusive interview with The Express Tribune, he detailed the commencement of a mega water supply scheme from Chahan Dam, located in the suburbs of Rawalpindi, with a budget of Rs6 billion. He emphasized the committees commitment to transforming Rawalpindi into an ideal developed district, ensuring justice for all.
Post-July, the district will see extensive development projects, including the construction of roads, improvement of the sewage system, provision and up gradation of basic facilities in schools, and the establishment of new colleges, he said.
The lawmaker assured that all resources would be utilized to provide these facilities to the common man.
