Rashakai SEZ to be opened next week
All is set for the inauguration of the Rashakai Special Economic Zone next week. Prime Minister Imran Khan will inaugurate the approximately 1,000 acres Rashakai Special Economic Zone (RSEZ), which is a flagship project of the provincial government under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
This was disclosed by National Assembly (NA) Speaker Asad Qaiser on Monday as he addressed the media after attending a meeting to review inauguration preparations of the RSEZ at the residence of the Parliamentary Committee on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Chairperson MNA Arbab Sher Khan.
The opening of the RSEZ will open up a new era of growth and trade which will help in the development of the economy, the speaker said.
Qaiser said that a CPEC Conference will be held in Peshawar for the first time later this week on November 13.
He said that the incumbent government was taking steps for the development of the economy, the welfare of the people by expanding trade with Afghanistan.
The speaker added that in this way, not only employment opportunities will be created in both neighbouring countries but will also help establish peace in Afghanistan.
Pakistan has great interest in a peaceful Afghanistan for peace and stability in Pakistan and the region, he said.
The speaker said that they have also invited Afghanistan to join the CPEC so that it could move towards development too and do business with Central Asian countries.
He said that the government has delivered on its promises and the development work was in full swing. The reforms in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) are underway.
He said it was the first time in the history of Pakistan that K-P was being given a major share in mega projects which would have far-reaching effects.
The RSEZ is located on M-1 Motorway at Rashakai Interchange and links to CPEC through Burhan Interchange on M-1 and Swat Expressway on Karnal Sher Khan Interchange connecting Dir, Chitral and Shandur to RSEZ.
The K-P Economic Zone Development and Management Company (KPEZDMC) Chief Executive Saeed Ahmed had also confirmed that the inauguration of RSEZ will be performed by Prime Minister Imran Khan. The SEZ will be developed by China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), with a total investment of $130 million.
