Punjab Govt. approves budget for construction of Sheranwala Gate Flyover
The government of Punjab has approved the construction of Sheranwala Gate Flyover with a budget of 4 billion rupees.
In a meeting, the official approval of the Sheranwala Gate Flyover was given. Director General Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Ahmed Aziz Tarar and Chief Engineer LDA Abdul Razzaq Chohan were also present in the meeting.
The proposal of the Sheranwala Gate Flyover and Shahkam Chowk projects was presented. However, the approval for Shahkhm Chowk Flyover has been postponed till the next meeting and a detailed study has been demanded.
According to the details, the reservations regarding Shahkam Chowk Flyover were discussed in the meeting. The 3D model is also ready for the project. For this project, an estimate of 4bn and 30 crores was presented out of which, 60 crores were reduced. The completion time was also reduced to 10 months from 1 year. However, for Sheranwala Gate Flyover, an estimate of Rs. 4.5 bn was presented that also includes the cost of land acquisition.
The final consent was granted at a meeting of the Department of Planning and Development (P&D). Also, present on the occasion was Ahmed Aziz Tarar, Director General (DG) of the Lahore Development Authority (LDA). Plans for flyovers from Sheranwala Gate and Shahkam Chowk were proposed during the meeting. For the Shahkam Chowk Flyover scheme, the meeting ordered a feasibility report on the traffic count.
The 3D design was reportedly prepared for the Shahkam Chowk Flyover and an estimated cost of Rs. 4,300 million was proposed. In addition to decreasing the completion period from one year to 10 months, the meeting lowered cost estimates by Rs. 600 million.
The project will include three lanes and a stretch of road on Multan Road, as per the plan. It is planned that the construction work for the said project will be launched during the coming year.
