PM Shehbaz inaugurates Jinnah Avenue Interchange underpass in Islamabad
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated the Jinnah Avenue Interchange underpass in Islamabad on Tuesday, declaring that its construction in “just 42 days sets a new record.”
“Insha Allah, we will advance Pakistan’s growth and prosperity, and the pace of development will continue, stating,” he said while addressing the event.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and government officials attended the ceremony. The Capital Development Authority (CDA) chairman briefed the prime minister on the interchange project, highlighting the emphasis on safety and security measures.
It was revealed that the first phase of the project includes the completion of a 950-metre underpass, with a “strong focus” on ensuring safety and security throughout the project.
The premier noted that the foundation stone for the project was laid just 42 days ago, and it has been completed in a “record time frame.” He emphasized that nations progress through hard work and congratulated the Capital Development Authority, and the contractors involved.
“The completion of the flyover will address traffic issues between Islamabad and Rawalpindi,” PM Shehbaz said and mentioned work at the Serena Chowk project and expressed confidence that it too would be completed with similar speed. He commended the Islamabad Traffic Police for maintaining traffic flow during the construction.
He acknowledged the efforts of Naqvi and his team.
Naqvi said that the project was completed in just 1,008 hours and humorously said that despite their hard work, they could not compete with PM Shehbaz.
The interior minister announced plans to establish a nursery for the people of Islamabad by March, featuring “quality flowers and trees.” He mentioned that the premier has directed the construction of five-star hotels in the city, promising to present a plan for one within 10 days.
Naqvi noted ongoing work at F-10 Chowk and committed to completing the Serena Chowk underpass in 60 days. He also stated that the upgrade of the Gaddafi Stadium would be completed within 75 days.
