NHA Approves Revised PC-1 for Sialkot-Narowal Link Road Project
The National Highway Authority’s Executive Board has given the green light to the revised Project Concept-1 (PC-1) for the Sialkot-Narowal link road project.
According to reports, the four-lane road will be 73 kilometers long, linking Narowal and Narang Mandi to the Sialkot-Lahore Motorway (M-11) and reducing commuting time for vehicles from the border region.
The project is estimated to cost PKR 74 billion and is an extension of the M-11. The NHA has sent the revised PC-1 to the Ministry of Planning and Development and the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council for final approval.
In addition to the Sialkot-Narowal link road project, the NHA board approved the following projects:
- PKR 10.95 billion for the construction of Section III of the Chakdara-Chitral Road Project (N-45), which is a 48-kilometer-long stretch from Kalkatak-Chitral.
- PKR 2.60 billion for the Paharpur-BandKorai-Rodikhel-Sidra Morr (N-55) project, which is an 18-kilometer-long road.
- Installation of an Intelligent Traffic System (ITS) on the rest of the motorways as per Concession Agreements and Regular Agreements/Rules, etc.
- Release of the ‘Position Paper’ of the Indus Highway (N-55) Additional Carriageway Project, which is a 221.95-kilometer-long project from the Shikarpur-Rajanpur Section.
