New Elevated Barakahu Road is Finally Complete After Tons of Controversies

As per reports, the elevated portion of Barakahu will be inaugurated soon. Barakahu Road serves as a vital lifeline for commuters and residents, connecting various neighborhoods and areas within the capital. Known for its scenic beauty, this road winds through lush green hills, offering breathtaking views to those who travel along its path.

The project will surely reduce the traffic congestion and is a great way to facilitate tourists who are traveling towards Murree.

PM Shehbaz Sharif wanted to operationalize the bypass last year in November as he mentioned during the inauguration of Rawal Dam Flyover.

However, Quaid-e-Azam University took legal action against the project as they challenged the decision to be illegal by the federal government regarding the bypass. The university also accused CDA of pressuring and threatening them.

Despite the court orders, the CDA started the construction work as QUA was formerly located in Zone III of Margalla Hills but CDA moved it to Zone I. However, IHC prolonged its stay on QAU land for the Barakahu bypass project, and the faculty of QAU partitioned to Islamabad High Court to stop CDA from building a bypass on the land of the university

Additionally, a tragic incident also took place during the construction as a large pillar collapsed due to which two workers lost their lives and three others were injured severely. Whereas, another four workers were trapped in the debris but rescue teams managed to pull them out. They were taken to the nearest hospital.

Just when everyone thought the controversies of Barakahu were over, another incident took place as a girder collapsed during the placing operation that caused the closure of the end on both sides of the road. This was the second incident within a week and it raised the need to enhance safety protocols.

Hence, due to these controversies and incidents, the authorities decided to perform a ritual where they sacrificed a goat for the successful completion of the project. However, after many issues and hassles the Barakahu bypass will be inaugurated soon.

As one of the major thoroughfares in the city, Barakahu Road plays a significant role in facilitating transportation and accessibility for the residents of Islamabad. The road acts as a crucial link, connecting different parts of the city and providing an efficient route for commuters and travelers.

Not only does Barakahu Road offer convenience in terms of connectivity, but it also provides an aesthetic treat to the senses. The surrounding hills and verdant landscapes create a serene ambiance, making the journey along this road a delightful experience.
