Interior Minister orders National Police Academy building upgradation in six months

Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi on Monday visited the National Police Academy (NPA) in Islamabad to inspect the ongoing work on the upgradation of the academy’s building, which is taking place after 31 years.

The minister went round the newly built classrooms and residential blocks.

He directed that the work be completed in six months.

He, on the occasion, handed a cheque of Rs250 million to the commandant of the academy Muhammad Idrees Ahmad for the upgradation of the building.

Later, while chairing a high-level meeting on the reorganisation of the NPA, he directed that arrangements be made for the start of master classes at the academy for the officers, undergoing training, at the earliest.

Naqvi said that the NPA’s reorganisation as well as the construction of the National Police University was a priority.

Acknowledging the role of the NPA in improving policing in the country, the minister said the government wanted to bring the institution at par with other such institutions in the world.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry stressed the need for the introduction of courses in IT and cybercrime subjects.

NPA commandant briefed the participants on the master plan of the project.
