Digital Construction By Robots-Smart For Energy Management
Energy Management
We live in a world which gives us more pollution, diseases and unhealthy environment than peace and health. Earth is becoming the most polluted place to live which is making our survival hell. We need to have some Energy Management techniques. Every human activity continues to add on more dirt and more emission of harmful gases. These activities can include either electricity consumption, coal burning, use of vehicles or construction. Here, we will particularly talk about construction. Our construction patterns have been the most harmful way to pollute the world to any extent. Constructing new buildings on the same old pattern will continue to pollute the environment.
This is so because, the UN Global Survey has found out that
“40% of the world’s total energy consumption and CO2 emission happens through the construction sector.”
DFAB House
If this continues, it will become difficult for us to survive. We need to make this world a better place to live. For this purpose, an association of Swiss Researchers proposed a solution. The proposed an idea of working with robots and creating a DFAB house. Experts at ETH Zurich University and 30 industry partners collaborated to give this idea a face of reality. This house is created on a digital plan, with the help of robots and 3D printers. Also, it has a delicate concrete ceiling with 3D printed framework. It has a curved concrete wall which the construction robots have made. The construction robots are the ones who can built large buildings on demand.
Properties of House
Additionally, this house has a unique pattern of opening up the blinds and performing other jobs. When we give a specific command, the blinds open and kettle starts preparing tea. It took the researchers solid 4 years to create this innovative ground breaking. It has the area of 2,370 square feet and locates at the uppermost storey of NEST. This DFAB house needs 60% less cement for its construction. This state-of-the-art project causes less cement usage and less CO2 emission.
A smart house
DFAB house is smart in terms of electricity consumption and energy management. It has Photovoltaic modules on its roof, which supply one and half times more energy than it consumes. Moreover, it helps to save extra energy. It has shower trays in which the heat from waste water stores and recovers through heat exchangers. Similarly, instead of cooling in the water pipes, extra hot water flows back to the boiler if not in use. This practise is user friendly in many terms. It saves energy and also protects us from getting sick as it prevents growth of bacteria in pipes.
In Pakistan, we also need to follow this practise to overcome the energy issues we face. In this way we will be able to reduce pollution, CO2 emission, save environment, energy, electricity and our health.
