CM orders completing Lahore Development Plan at earliest

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed the administration of the provincial capital to complete the city’s development plan at the earliest.

While chairing a meeting to review the progress on Lahore Development Plan on Sunday, she said: “A durable end-to-end waste disposal system will be developed in each zone of Lahore.”

She said the Lahore development plan includes drainage system, construction of access roads and streets, installation of streetlights and restoration of parks.

The CM directed the authorities concerned to set up a dedicated ‘Project Management Unit’ to ensure effective implementation of the development plan. She also approved a proposal to use separate colours for identification of each zone.

Earlier, CM Maryam Nawaz was briefed that the construction, repair and development of six zones of Lahore including Ravi, Shalimar, Samanabad, Data Ganj Bakhsh, Nishtar Town, Gulberg and Railway area would be undertaken in Phase-I at a cost of over Rs74 billion. Phase-I was expected to be completed within 10 months, and it would benefit more than 93 lakh people living in these six zones.

The CM was also apprised that the construction, repair and development of other zones including Allama Iqbal, Wagah and Aziz Bhatti, under Phase-II, would start after the completion of Phase-I.
