CM orders acquisition of land for peshawar bus stand
PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has directed the quarters concerned to complete the acquisition of the land already identified for shifting of general bus stand out of Peshawar city within the next two months

Chairing a meeting regarding development projects for Peshawar, he said that work on the preparation of PC-1, feasibility study, and engineering design of the project should also be expedited.
An official statement said here on Wednesday that the meeting was briefed about projects for Peshawar including shifting of general bus stand out of the city, solid waste management, construction of remaining portions of the Ring Road, and city improvement project.
The meeting was told that the general bus stand was being shifted out of the city for which site was identified near Ring Road and the process of land acquisition was in progress.

The meeting was informed that under the city improvement project, various activities would be carried out in different areas of Peshawar including the replacement of the water supply network, solid waste management system at Shamshato, construction of a sewerage treatment plant in Kanza, construction of the park, family areas, walking tracks and food streets in Hayatabad Phase-VII and extension and development of Bagh-i-Naran Park.
The meeting was informed that the works on preparation of detailed engineering design for the city improvement project were also in progress and would be completed by next week.
Under the project, special focus is laid on the replacement of rusted water supply pipelines and water tanks throughout Peshawar for which the city has been divided into four zones. Besides, a site has also been identified out of the city for a solid waste management project.
The meeting was briefed about progress on the construction of the leftover northern section of Ring Road and was told that the project would be completed within one year.
The chief minister stressed the need for expediting work on all mega projects in Peshawar. He said that it was the priority of the government to facilitate people. He said that unnecessary delay in the execution of those projects would not be tolerated and in case of delay action would be taken against the people responsible for it.
He directed the authorities concerned to complete the land acquisition process within two months so that work on the project could be initiated as earlier as possible.
