Cement export up massively by 71.5% in Sept
A huge increase of 71.5 percent has been recorded in the export of cement in September 2024, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
In this regard, All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association has released the data.
According to data, the export of cement in September 2024 was 978,871 tons while in September 2023, the export of cement was 570692 tons.
Overall cement sales were down by 5.63 percent during September 2024. The total sales of cement in September 2024 were 3.54 million tons while the total sales of cement in September 2023 was 3.751 million tons.
During September 2024, local sales of cement decreased by 18 percent and domestic sales of cement stood at 2.65 million tons in September 2024 while domestic sales of cement in September 2023 stood at 3.233 tons
In the three months of the current financial year, local sales of cement decreased by 19.78 percent to 8.13 million tons while in the last fiscal year, three months of cement sales were 10.133 million tons.
Export of cement increased by 22.19 percent in three months of this financial year as the export of cement increased to 2.14 million tons in three months of this financial year while in the last financial year, the export of cement was 1.751 million tons in three months.
All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association said that this is the fourth consecutive month in which domestic sales of cement declined because cement sector is suffering from crisis.
Duties and taxes need to be reduced to reduce construction costs, All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers said.
