CDWP Approves Rs. 466.3mln Projects
Karachi: The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) on Monday approved two projects worth Rs466.3 million and recommended four others worth Rs133 billion to Executive Committee of National Economic Council (Ecnec) for further approval, Pakistan Construction & Quarry Learnt.
The CDWP meeting, presided over by Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Jehanzeb Khan, considered nine projects and approved two position papers and recommended four position papers to Ecnec for consideration. Secretary Planning Zafar Hasan, senior officials from federal and provincial governments also participated in the meeting while representatives from provincial governments participated through videoconference. Projects related to health, physical planning and housing, transport and communication and water resources were considered during the meeting.

Two position papers related to physical planning and housing were presented in the meeting. First project titled, “Construction of admin block, magazine quarter guard, barracks, MT shed, horse stable and parade ground in diplomatic enclave, Islamabad,” worth Rs280 million was approved in the meeting. Second position paper, titled “construction of 4 Nos, B type police station in various sector of Islamabad”, worth Rs185.4 million was also approved in the meeting.
Health related project from government of the Punjab namely, “Punjab human capital investment project”, worth Rs52.8 billion was referred to Ecnec. The project envisaged increasing the access to quality health, education and social protection services among poor and vulnerable households in 11 districts of the Punjab.
Two position papers related to transport and communications were presented. They were “Peshawar northern bypass”, worth Rs21.3 billion and “up-gradation, widening and construction of Surab- Hoshab Road N-85 (454km)”, worth Rs28.8 billion. Both were referred to Ecnec for further approval. The last project relating to government of Khyber Pakhtunkawa, “Khyber Pakhtunkhwa irrigated agriculture improvement project”, worth Rs30 billion was also referred to the Ecnec for further approval.
