As per the latest updates, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) are going to construct the Sikandar-E- Azam Road in order to promote Gandhara tourism. CDA and KP government are expected to complete around 20 KM of joint road projects in 4 months. The project is expected to take almost 6 months in order to carpet Margalla Hills Road.

As per the report, the CDA will complete around a 7.5-kilometer stretch of the road starting from Shah Allah Dita to village Kainthla whereas the KP government will complete the remaining Sikandar-e-Azam Road to Khanpur. Once the project is complete, the distance between Islamabad and Haripur will be shortened, resulting in a safe trip and less fuel consumption.

Furthermore, the National Highway Authority (NHA) and Frontier Works Organization (FWO) will be responsible for the execution and timely completion of the project. The construction of the Sikander-e-Azam road will facilitate tourists and visitors in exploring the Gandhara civilization’s rich cultural and historical heritage.

Gandhara is home to many amazing archaeological sites, such as ancient Buddhist stupas and monasteries, attracting tourists and history enthusiasts worldwide. By improving connectivity and infrastructure, the project will not only make sure to enhance tourism but will also contribute to the economic growth and prosperity of the local communities.
