CDWP approves revised plan worth Rs4.15bn for PU
LAHORE: The University of the Punjab has secured a major boost for its academic and research infrastructure after the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) approved a revised development plan worth Rs4.15 billion for the institution.
The approval came for the second revision of the PC-I titled “Strengthening of Academic and Research Programmes at the University of the Punjab, Lahore,” during a CDWP meeting chaired by the Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Government of Pakistan, Professor Ahsan Iqbal.
In a press statement issued afterwards, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Muhammad Ali termed the approval a significant step towards further strengthening the university’s academic and research infrastructure. He said the project aimed to upgrade the university’s core research capabilities, strengthen academic programmes, improve research facilities and create an enhanced environment for advanced teaching, learning and research.
He added that the revised allocation of Rs4.15 billion would provide crucial financial support for implementing the project and help the university achieve its objective of building modern academic and research infrastructure. He said the university administration was grateful to Allah Almighty for the achievement and acknowledged the valuable support, guidance and cooperation extended by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan and the Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives.
The approval of the revised PC-I is being viewed as an important development in the university’s continued transformation into a stronger centre of higher education and research, one expected to contribute significantly towards improving the quality of academic programmes and expanding its research capacity. The university administration reaffirmed its resolve to utilise the approved resources effectively for the advancement of academic excellence, research and institutional development.
