KP to Build Underpasses Worth Rs. 8 Billion on One of Peshawar’s Busiest Roads

In a bid to tackle growing traffic congestion in Peshawar, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has included a new underpass construction project on the city’s Ring Road in the upcoming Annual Development Program (ADP) for the next fiscal year.

According to official sources, the project is aimed at ensuring smooth and uninterrupted traffic flow on the Ring Road by constructing underpasses at key locations. The initiative is expected to significantly ease daily travel for residents.

An estimated Rs. 8 billion will be spent on the project in total. For the upcoming development budget, an initial allocation of Rs. 300 million has been recommended. This amount will be used for the preparation of the PC-1, feasibility studies, and initial construction work.

Officials said that the formal launch of the project is expected next year, pending necessary approvals from relevant forums. Once completed, the project is likely to reduce frequent traffic jams and improve urban mobility across Peshawar.
