RDA Speeds Up Operation Against Illegal Construction in Rawalpindi
According to an RDA spokesperson, the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has intensified its crackdown on illegal construction. Speaking to APP, he disclosed that under the direction of Director General Kinza Murtaza, RDA conducted an operation resulting in the sealing of 10 illegal plazas and five houses across various locations.
The RDA Enforcement Squad targeted unauthorized residential and commercial buildings on Morgah Road, Gulshan-e-abad, and Dhamyal Kalyal Road in Rawalpindi. During the operation, 10 plazas and five houses were sealed due to violations of approved building plans and regulations.
The spokesperson noted that the property owners had disregarded approved building plans despite receiving prior notices from RDA. They converted these properties into illegal residential and commercial units without the necessary approvals and no objection certificates (NOCs), breaching the Punjab Development of Cities Act 1976 and the RDA Building and Zoning Regulations 2020.
Despite warnings, the owners failed to comply with directives from the authorities regarding the illegal constructions. The DG instructed the Land Use & BuildiC) Wauthorities’ directives stringent action against encroachments, unauthorized constructions, and illegal commercial activities in residential areas.
Furthermore, the Building Control Wing has been tasked with reviewing and imposing fines on violators. RDA remains dedicated to upholding city planning and zoning laws to ensure systematic urban development.
