Ghani assures ABAD high level meeting to resolve construction issues

Local Government Minister, Saeed Ghani, has reaffirmed the provincial government’s vision of providing affordable and high-quality housing facilities to its citizens. During a meeting with a delegation from the Association of Builders and Developers (ABAD), he assured that the challenges facing the construction sector in Karachi, Hyderabad, and other districts of Sindh would be addressed promptly. Saeed Ghani announced plans to convene a meeting of heads of relevant departments, including the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA), Karachi Water Board, WASA, and Hyderabad Development Authority (HDA), to resolve issues raised by ABAD.

Minister, Saeed Ghani said, “Our goal is to provide maximum facilitation to ABAD’s builders and developers, ensuring the timely completion of housing projects.”

Association of Builders and Developers (ABAD) Chairman Hasan Bakshi called on the provincial government to simplify the process of project approvals and introduce a one-window operation system. He said, “The construction sector is the engine of economic growth for any country. Currently, hundreds of project plans are stuck in approval processes, halting billions of rupees in investments.”

Hasan Bakshi emphasized the need for transparency in administrative procedures through the implementation of a one-window system. He added that removing hurdles in the construction industry could not only provide quality housing to citizens but also generate employment opportunities for millions and increase government revenue through taxes. Acknowledging ABAD’s role, Saeed Ghani stressed the importance of curbing illegal constructions. “We want Association of Builders and Developers (ABAD) to take initiatives that ensure compliance with legal frameworks in the construction sector,” he said.

The minister reiterated that the Sindh government is fully committed to leveraging all available resources to provide affordable housing. “We are focused on working alongside ABAD to ensure the development of the construction sector, ultimately benefiting the citizens of Sindh,” said Ghani.
