CM Punjab Orders To Roads Repairing Of 2,600 Km Across Province
For enhancing transportation infrastructure, Punjab’s Caretaker Chief Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, has given the green light for the construction and Roads Repairing of an extensive network of roads spanning 2,600 kilometers across the province. This decision comes as a relief for residents who have long grappled with traffic congestion and deteriorating road conditions.
During a recent meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naqvi, a comprehensive report on the road rehabilitation project was presented, highlighting the urgency and importance of these initiatives. Emphasizing the positive impact on traffic flow, Naqvi expressed his commitment to ensure timely completion of more than 105 high-quality roads covering various districts.
Giving further insight into the ongoing projects, Communication and Works (C&W) Secretary Sohail Anwar revealed that construction, Roads Repairing and maintenance of 104 roads are currently underway. With an estimated cost of around Rs 150 billion, these efforts are expected to be finalized within the next year. An additional measure to ensure quality control involves the formation of a committee to monitor construction standards in each district and division.
The progress report presented by Secretary Anwar also highlighted the successful completion of 9 projects in which 33 highways are in final stages of development. Additionally, funding for 39 Roads Repairing is currently being reviewed, demonstrating a commitment to transparency and efficient allocation of resources.
Notably, six projects under the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) are about to be completed, underscoring the government’s commitment to a stronger public infrastructure. As these initiatives take shape, residents of Punjab can expect better connectivity, smoother traffic, and a more flexible transportation network in the near future.
