This 7-KM Long Winding Road Will Connect Islamabad and KP
The federal government has approved the construction of a 7-km road connecting Islamabad and Haripur in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). This project, known as Alexander Road, will be implemented at a cost of PKR 600 million and will be completed within four months.
The funding for this road will be sourced from a PKR 20 billion rural development package.
The Capital Development Authority (CDA) will oversee the construction of the road within the federal capital boundary near Kenthla Well, while KP will handle the remaining portion of the project. Once merged, this road will create the shortest route between Islamabad and Haripur.
The development and rehabilitation of this route are expected to have a positive impact on tourism in nearby areas, particularly Shah Allah Ditta. The road will include facilities such as tourist parking and a park for travelers to relax and enjoy.
According to an official, this project will benefit 36 areas with an estimated population of 200,000 people. These areas include Muslim Colony (Bari Imam), Nur Pur Shahan, Malpur, Shahdara, Mandla, Kot Hathial, Bani Gala, Lakhawal, Phul Garan, Ghora Baz, Tumair, and Lehtrar Road.
While environmentalists have expressed concerns about the potential damage to the natural habitat of various plants and animals, the government has decided to proceed with the project despite the objections.
