TKMG Road: FWO ready to complete Pakistan’s mega project
The Frontier Works Organization (FWO), after a rigorous journey of two years, is ready to complete work on the Timergara-Khar-Mamad Gat Road (TKMG).
The Rs. 7 billion mega road project has come a long way taking a pragmatic shape in the form of a widened road which has progressed rapidly with FWO working in full swing on the remaining bridges and road structures.
Around 50 km of the road has been completed till the Asphaltic Wearing course and FWO is striving to make efforts for completion of the project within the stipulated timeline i.e. September 2022.
Working on the two major bypasses including Khar and Munda bypass is also underway to assist in the smooth sailing of traffic upon completion of the road without being jeopardized by the traffic congestion in Khar and Timargara. This project is a harbinger for business and educational opportunities in the areas of Mohmand, Bajaur, and Dir.
The three major bridges and remaining plain cement concrete and reinforced cement concrete drains are also achieving great strides in progress with concrete activities executed round the clock by the FWO team.
Work on the road initially began in 2020 after former Prime Minister Imran Khan performed the ground-breaking during his visit to Bajaur tribal district. As an important part of Pakistan’s Central Trade Corridor (CTC), the 71. 197 km road TKMG Road will link Mohmand, Bajaur, and Dir subsequently.
The TKMG is a pivotal road project that will provide job opportunities to hundreds of local residents. In addition, the project will bring a new era of progress and prosperity to the region.
The TKMG project has brought accessibility and augmented the speed of travel from Mamad Gat to Dir in one hour and 10 mins down from a tiresome three hours journey. The ambitious TKMG road will also consist of a total of seven bridges and 156 culverts.
It is indeed state-of-the-art traffic management and planning, enabling a conducive environment for “Construction without Disturbance”. An organization like FWO can only epitomize such awe-inspiring management despite the challenging terrain of Bajaur.
