Karachi Circular Railway project: Update
Total length of KCR will be 43 Kilometers. 29 kilometers will be elevated while 14 kilometers will be at grade (on ground)
KCR will have 22 Stations from which 400,000 to 450,000 people will ride daily.
To complete the KCR it has been divided into 2 phases. In Phase 1 civil infrastructure will be developed having Underpasses and overheads which will cost 27 Billion Rupees approx.
27 Billion Rupees will be provided from PSDP. Federal will provide 21 Billion Rupees and 6 Billion rupees will be provided by Sindh Government.
Ground Breaking ceremony of phase 1 of KCR will be held in September 2021 and will be performed by PM Imran Khan. Contractor has been finalized for the project. FWO will construct the project. Design of the project has been completed as well.
Phase 2 of KCR will be developed with Public Private Partnership. The Public Sector will be invited and tenders will be issued in October 2021
