Lakki elders demand construction of roads
The elders of Wazir subdivision have asked the district administration to repair roads and construct new ones in the area.
Speaking at a khuli kutcheri convened by Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Zubair Niazi in Gumbati area on Thursday, they said that poor road infrastructure was the main hurdle to development of the subdivision. They said that government should allocate special funds for building new roads and repairing the old ones in Wazir subdivision.
The elders also shed light on the problems in health and education sectors. They said that the subdivision was neglected in the past. They said that government should launch development projects to provide basic amenities of life to people in the area.
They asked the authorities to upgrade middle schools to high level in the area. They also demanded resolution of power-related problems.
The deputy commissioner said that building new roads and repairing the old ones in Wazir subdivision was the top priority of the government. He said that work on Ping-Sararoghha road was completed while approval of other rural roads was in the pipeline.
He assured the elders that administration would approach the provincial authorities concerned for up gradation of middle schools in the area to enable the local students to get secondary education near their homes.
He called upon the elders to convince parents to send their children to schools as getting education was their basic right. He directed the officials to improve service delivery and share progress with the administration about people’s problems highlighted in the open session.
Also, Bannu Commissioner Shaukat Ali Yousafzai chaired a high level meeting at his office to discuss matters pertaining to revenue receipts and encroachments with the authorities of Lakki Marwat and Bannu.
He asked the officials concerned to ensure achieving the revenue receipts target set by the provincial government at all costs. He asked the officials to accelerate action against encroachments in Lakki Marwat and Bannu districts.
